Independence Day Resurgence

Independence Day Resurgence is directed by Roland Emmerich and stars Liam Hemsworth and Jeff Goldblum and is the sequal to the 1996 original which takes place 20 years after the events of the first film and is about the alien mother coming back but this time around posing a much bigger threat. So the plot to the first film, basically.

I must say, before going into this film I was not too familiar with the first one so did not really know what to expect. What I did get was a truly awful film.

I  fathom to explain how corny this film is, the acting is pants, the plot is pants and above all the script was simply horrendous. After now watching the first one I realised how much the two films differ. The first one was fun, cheesy and energetic with some good lines. This sequel demonstrated know true effort to make a good film, but just to release a so called 'long awaited sequel' . It was so un-energtic its unbelievable every line delivered was tragic and very awkward as was the whole film. I admired the use of special effects as this is very impressive, however it still had no influence on my opinion of this movie. As was watching the film, I realised how familiar it was, what you get is Star Trek, Armageddon and Terminator 3 . Will Smith's presence was greatly missed and did have a huge effect on the film's characters as they were all bland. The only thing I tolerated about this film was Jeff Goldblum, he was the only character who gave some comedic talent. The plot was so stupid it was exactly the same as the original but chewed up and spat out and the logic was just bad and didn't at all make sense. The film is so flat is doesn't build put anything and has no climax and for a  two hour film it felt like forever and literally put me to sleep for about ten minutes. I'm sorry for another negative review but I must say I haven't seen a GOOD film in a while now.

I thought this film was a complete disaster and was all over the place, it had an awkward atmosphere and made me want to walk out the cinema. The only bearable aspect to the film is Jeff Goldblum's performance.
