Hail Cesar is directed by the Coen Brothers and stars Josh Broslin, Channing Tatum, George Clooney, Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes, Scarlett Johansson and Jonah Hill and is an old tribute to how they originally made hollywood films. The Film is about a famous actor who is kidnapped and held up for ransom. Well sort of.
I am sorry to start March of on such a bad note. Sadly I didn't like this film because I found it hard to grasp what it was aiming for. It was a 2 hour tribute to how they made hollywood movies back in the day. Which in some sense worked but not in all. I struggled to find the plot; this film's was not clear to me at all and really was about nothing . I found it long, boring but at the same time fairly stylish. I unfortunately disliked the way this film was made, there was not much to digest as anauvidence member. One thing that really got me was that the strength of the cast, it was amazing, and Josh Broslin was literally the only character in it, the others were cameos. Whilst I have to admit Broslin gave off a very cool, collective performance. Also, I did appreciate a hidden jem they placed in the film that goes by the name of Alden Ehrenreich,; this man killed the part of a dumb western actor who took on challenging rolls when they switch his acting contract, I loved him because he was the only real character who was developed. In the end, the film offers a smart, snappy, stylish look at how films were made in the 50's, but the film had no plot to go along with and most of the humour I either completely missed or wasn't apparent at all. Hail Caesar is a slow paced, duller version of 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' I'm going to give Hail Caesar 5/10
