Finding Dory

Finding Dory is directed by Andrew Stanton and Angus Maclane staring Ellen DeGenres, Albert Brooks, Ed O'Neill, Ty Burrell and Diane Keaton taking place just one year after the events of Finding Nemo; due to a sudden epiphany of flashbacks from her childhood, Dory starts to remember her parents and sets off on a quest to California's Marine Life Institute to find them. 

13 years after the original we were all beyond excited to finally see the long awaited sequal to 2003's Finding Nemo one of Pixar's most successful work's. I wasn't too sure what to expect as I wasn't always mad on the first one; but in the end Finding Dory turned out to be an absolutely stunning film which, personally, I thought was significantly better that the original. 

This was a fantastically fast pace film, jam packed full of laughs and adorable life lessons, this truly is the gift that keeps on giving. From the word go the pace of the film was constant from introducing sub plots to meeting new characters there was never a dull moment, whilst the plot (more or less) was the same as the first one, Pixar still manages to introduce fresh ideas as the film unfolds. Because of the pacing all the scenes merged together quite nicely, and it actually felt as if you were on this journey through the ocean with Dory, which is an incredible thing to accomplish. Definitely one of the most enjoyable parts of the film was the characters, there is so much character development.  Every character had different personalities and being able to see them interact with each other was really entertaining.  Modern Family's Ed O'Neill plays Hank the cranky Octopus, who help Dory throughout her quest; at first for his best interest but in the end he risked everything for Dory's sake. Hank is the best example of character development, at the start he is made out to be a grouch but then you begin to learn that he is actually a big softy, full of kindness and courage and this also shows us that love really does come in the most unlikely form. The list goes on Bailey, Destiny and of course Dory each and everyone of them were special in their own way.

I was shocked by the incredible number of laugh out load moments that had adults chucking too, particularly one joke about the great Sigourney Weaver which likes to continue itself throughout the whole film but never becoming any less amusing. I also loved how well disney executed the flash back scenes, I was worried about it being jumpy but in the end the Baby Dory scenes was unbarely cute and really well crafted.

Since this film is full of amazing characters, great laughs, heart warming family moments, incredible voice acting, some phenomenal animation and one of the most action packed, Thelma and Louise type endings ever.
