Me Before You is directed by Thea Sharrock, based of the highly successful novel by Jojo Moyes, and stars Sam Claflin, Emilia Clarke, and Jenna Coleman and tells the story of Louise who, after trying almost everything, bags a job working as a carer for a paralysed man, who later forms an unlikely bond with her. 

Me Before You is a heartbreaking, romantic journey that transports you in a way that not many films have done. I can't criticise this film in anyway not because it's about the struggles of a disability and I might be offensive, but because this film was just made so well. The acting in this film was breath taking, Claflin was exceptional with all these physical disabilities and struggles his character faced on a day to day basis. He represented a paraplegic person who was not just in physical pain but emotional pain too, I think this was highly respectful. Clarke also performed beautifully as this wide eyed, optimistic, young girl who tried everything to convince Traynor (Claflin) there is more to life than death. The two of them worked so wonderfully together and formed such an adorable bond that made us care even more about them. Not only did they fall in love with each other but we as an audience fell in love with them.  Janet McTear who played Will Traynor's Mother also brought a stunning performance and showed a realistic representation of how desperate a mother is to keep her child happy. Every actor in this film performed to their highest abilities and it definitely did show. The cinematography in this film was absolutely beautiful, certain shots at the start of the film to a sequence right at the end, they did not shy away from amazing camera work that again had a big effect on the film. This film surprised me at how funny it was, it took a break from the sadness every once in a while and slotted in hilarious dialog, which was a breath of fresh air whilst watching the film. It was funny in exactly the right places, it added nicely to certain scenes and was a huge part in the character development of Will Traynor. Nearly all of the comedy in this film was provided by Clarke which again was amazing because it described her character perfectly. The soundtrack was really well put together most times it fit in with the film very well but sometimes after an important scene it cuts to loud pop music which distracts from the concept of the film slightly, however it is only a minor complaint and my only one about the film. 

The most important part about Me Before You is how well it deals with an incredibly sensitive, deep topic. It clearly showed that they got an amazing actor to perform a very challenging role in which he had to convince us of his disabilities without being offensive. Which Sam Claflin did excellently. Other actors around him performed incredibly and represented to us how difficult it was to relieve him of his emotional and physical pain. I can respect this film on so many levels. 

Me Before You is quite possibly the saddest most heart breaking film I have ever seen, with beautiful acting, stunning cinematography and dealing with a very emotional topic, it leaves with goosebumps when the credits role. Again this is another one of the best films I have seen this year.

Jack Reacher Never Go Back is directed by Edward Zwick and stars Tom Cruise and Cobbie Smulders,and relives the story of Jack Reacher once again, who this time around is trying to uncover the truth behind a major government conspiracy in order to clear his name. 

A film based of a Lee Child book with Cruise staring as the lead, this film has no excuse to be a dry and lack laster as it was. With many negatives and few positives, Jack Reacher Never Go Back was uncomfortably painful for me to watch. One of the only good things about this film is the acting from Cruise and Smulders. They both worked well and performed as well as they could however there was absolutely no chemistry between these two characters whatsoever. They were stiff and awkward with each other and the next seen Reachers trying to flirt with her, it was ridiculous that not one character in the film had any relationship with another character. Whilst they both performed well individually, Cruise gave of this really moody attitude, different to all his other roles, the whole way through the film and it felt like even he didn't want to be there. The rest of the acting in the film was really not good, the generals were so wooden and the teenage girl, who supposedly is Reacher's Daughter, is the most irritating person I have watch in a film. She was moaning and sarcastic, and all she did was ask questions but none about who Reacher was, she also did stupid things she was specifically told not to do. I'm sure this actress has a lot to offer in the but her character was not well written. 

The only other thing I liked about the film was the opening scene which was very mysterious and I thought that's good bit of film making however we saw the whole thing in the trailer, so the one good thing about the film I had already seen. Much like with the action scenes, although there is barely any action in this action film; all the ones we do get are shown in all the trailers, it's completely absurd. There was major problems with the script, soldiers throwing around phrases like 'dickhead' is ridiculous because under there circumstances they wouldn't be saying that. But what has to be the stupidest line in the film was a solider whilst in front of a general, uttering the words 'his ass is mine!'... For once in my life I have no words to describe how dumb this line was. All around the dialog is just dry and hard to listen to, however a few scenes between Smulers and the little girl weren't too bad. Honestly my biggest problem with the film is the logic, I can't begin to explain how dumb this film is. For example: There is a scene where Smulders and Cruise are being chased, one ask the other "Are we being followed" and the other replies the "Brown hair, back coat" and there is literally a man standing next to the hitman with brown hair and a black coat. There is a scene where Cruise steals the passport of someone who is supposed to look like him but clearly doesn't and the man checking the passports glares at it and let's him through anyway! Are you serious, it's nonsense. Lastly there is scene where Cruise takes the uniform off a guard, who looks literally nothing like him, and walks around the prison willy nilly and not one person notices until he attracts attention. It's actually the stupidest part to the film and it marvels me how mistakes this obvious were made into the final cut. The only other little problems I have with the film, are the shaky camera scenes especially when characters were running, a really underdeveloped storyline that was really not clear and finally a sub plot that was thrown in ten minutes before the end of the film that just blew me away. 

In the end, Jack Reacher Never Go Back had the potential to be a fun popcorn action film much like 'London Has Fallen' did superbly earlier this year. But in the end was a incredibly dull film that dragged on and on and on with no real outcome.

Doctor Strange is directed by Scott Derrickson and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Benedict Wong, and is the latest entry from Marvel It tells the story of Neurosurgeon Doctor Steven Strange, who after a life changing car accident embarks on a journey of healing but instead is taught of the mystical arts and embraces powers he never knew were within  him. 

As the trailers for Doctor Strange never blew me away I came out of the cinema pleased with what I had seen, and this is definitely a interesting addition to the marvel cinematic universe (MCU).  Most aspects to the film`I loved, the acting was very high standard especially from individuals like Wong and McAdams who both offered some very funny one-liners. Each actor fitted the role perfectly and this again shows Marvel's gift for amazing casting choices. Surprisingly, this film had many comedic scenes which mostly hit the mark perfectly.  Some jokes and lines were awkwardly placed and miss timed however, something no one could have expected from the studio that brought us 'Guardians of the Galaxy' (still is the funniest Marvel film to date).

The best parts to the film were the special effects and the exposition. From spells, to portals, dimension changing to mystical enchantments, this film had some of the best non stop CGI I have seen in any film, let alone a superhero film. All the different elements of sorcery were magical, and whilst the film was very dependent on it's special effects, it truly brought the world of Doctor Strange to life and therefore made this film as diverse as it is.

The exposition in this film is admirable, it tells us what we need to know and explains it without completely overcomplicating everything. Basic things like the meaning of their sorcery and the sanctums, the next infinity stone in the sequence and how Doctor Strange's powers work - all things I did not know about this superhero going in - were explained exactly how I wanted them to be. The films score as well was very cleverly put together. Using instruments like harpsichords and sitars, it made the background sound fit in with the films 'sacred' theme perfectly, and really set the mood

The only problem with the film is that it has serious pacing issues and lack of deep story telling, for a film this energetic I was more than surprised at how slow it was. Whilst an engaging opening scene, the first act was struggled to take off, it took a long while to set up the characters and most importantly how the sorcery was going to make it's way into Strange's life. By the second half of the film however, the plot picked up a lot more as the stakes became even higher which started to make the film more enjoyable. 

Although the film was seriously slow and didn't have a groundbreaking story line, Doctor Strange is a diverse new addition to the MCU which brings different, 'mystical' ideas to the table which is exactly the boost Marvel needs. It didn't bite off more than it could chew but let's hope for an all-round spectacular sequel.
